Twitter is doing a major design change with focus to keep the audience engaged and conversations fluid. The new design completely changes everything. The main focus seems to be about joining a conversation rather than what you previously did; starting a conversation. This by itself is a significant change in focus and ideology. People were using Twitter to follow news feeds rather than engaging in a discussion.
